ANNA YOUNG

Acclaimed nationally by listeners, colleagues, and mentors, Anna Young has been described as having β€œpurpose in her musical endeavors”.  Anna Young is a New York City–based multi-instrumentalist, music director, educator, songwriter, and freelance musician. With over a decade of professional performance experience, Anna has built a reputation for her versatility, musicianship, and collaborative spirit. Equally at home on bass, drums, percussion, keys, guitar, and vocals, she has performed across pop, rock, R&B, theater, indie, jazz, and genre-crossing projects, earning recognition from audiences, colleagues, and mentors alike for her thoughtful artistry and commitment to meaningful musical experiences.

A native New Yorker, Anna began composing and performing at a young age. While attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, she was selected to participate in the school's New Music Ensemble and received the Charles Fox Composition Award. Her original music reflects a broad range of influences and a passion for creating connections through performance and storytelling. As the primary songwriter, arranger, bassist, and bandleader of the pop-funk group Quail, Anna led the ensemble's creative direction while composing and arranging music for an eight-piece band featuring horns and vocal harmonies. Her first release, β€œBlue Sky,” has amassed over one million streams on Spotify.

As a performer, Anna has appeared at venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to Music Hall of Williamsburg to The O2 Academy Brixton, and has shared stages with artists including Noah Kahan, Lola Young, GiGi Perez, and Sammy Rae & The Friends. Since returning to New York after completing her undergraduate studies, she has established herself as an in-demand touring and freelance musician, performing nationally and internationally with artists including Annabelle Dinda, Annie DiRusso, Frances Forever, FORAGER, RAEGAN, Nikita Lev, Chloe Southern, and others. In addition to her work as a musician-for-hire, Anna serves as a music director, creating charts, leading rehearsals, assembling ensembles, and supporting artists both on stage and behind the scenes.

Anna holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Ithaca College, where she graduated summa cum laude, and a Master of Arts in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Beyond performing and recording, she maintains a private teaching studio and works with a variety of music education initiatives throughout New York City. Whether on stage, in the studio, or in the classroom, Anna's goal remains the same: to create meaningful musical experiences that inspire connection, creativity, and community.
